A winter wonderland beachside? Well, sort of. Our westside outpost of A+R is a hop and skip from the freezing snow blanketing the parking lot of The Brig this weekend as part of the Holiday Street Stroll along Abbot Kinney Boulevard.
The weekend festivities get underway Saturday with roving carolers (are there any other kind?) and free rides with a lively steel drum band on the vintage Venice tram.
Sunday is “Family Fun Day” with sledding on a real snow hill at The Brig lot (1515 Abbot Kinney Blvd., corner of Palms), holiday crafts and face painting. Of course, the day’s main attraction will be a live appearance by the man in the red suit from 11 to 2. Throughout the afternoon, the local Jingle Bell Rockers will rock and stroll the street.
And if your idea of giving involves more than shopping, bring a new, unwrapped toy to Urban Escape (1505 Abbot Kinney) or to the Brig parking lot for a local kid in need. Toys are parceled out as part of the local LAPD Pacific Division Toy Drive.
We’ll be in the giving mood, too, this weekend. Follow us on Twitter to get the inside track on deals and other tips.
Tis the weekend to get merry!
