Join Us Sunday: Live Atop Our Garage!

As a cap to the summer, we’ve come together with our amazingly creative neighbors of District La Brea to throw a party this Sunday, September 15, from 1-6 p.m. on the rooftop of our parking garage. That would be the three-story structure covered in Shepard Fairey‘s mural at the corner of 1st and La Brea Avenue.

The rooftop concert features 5 of L.A’s finest indie bands: Freedom Fry, Warships, Oona, GUIDES and The Low. We’re also excited to hear what our longtime pal and one of our favorite deejays, Kelly Cole, will be bringing to the tables. Kelly’s also the namesake of the boutique to the facing left of A+R on La Brea, which is filled with his rock luxe line of denim and accessories (including the leather, saddle-stitched bag I’ve been carrying for months).

On the heels of an inspired day last month when several international graffiti artists beautified the street with their artwork, this Sunday’s event will showcase artists from Off The Wall Graffiti, a non-profit mentoring and scholarship foundation for students who show a talent in graffiti and art.

Admission is free to the Garage Jam. But you do need to RSVP for access at Eventbrite.

Or fork over a nominal $15 for access to the VIP lounge, which includes lounge seating with shade, 2 drink tickets for the bar and a La Brea VIP card which entitles holders to 10% off purchases at participating shops during the event: Judith Bright, Kelly Cole, Shelter Half, What Comes Around Goes Around, The Sycamore Kitchen, Steven Alan, Recess and, of course, A+R (in our case, it’s storewide, except sales items).

We’re also thrilled to be unveiling the new Libratone Lounge speaker as part of the musical celebration. Stay tuned for more on this aural experience.

And now a thank you to our generous sponsors: Free Bike Valet music blog, Stack Wines, Popwater, JJ Midnight Moonshine, Aqua Hydrate and 97.1 Amp.

Just to sweeten the afternoon further:

PARKING: Free off-site parking at ACE Gallery, 2 blocks down from District La Brea at the corner of 4th Street and La Brea Avenue (the structure anchored by that enormous shiny Lenin sculpture.
Our La Brea customers not interested in hitting the event have access to parking in the parking structure on the 1st and 2nd floors: 1 hour free with validation or sales receipt from stores. Otherwise, it’s $15 per hour without validations or receipt.

For those of you who do, by the way: #LaBreaGarageJam or connect on FB for updates.

See you Sunday!
