You’re invited this week, Oct. 3-6, to join us at the inaugural WestEdge Design Fair happening at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. Hit design seminars and workshops, culinary demos, book signings and a celebrity-hosted opening-night benefit for Heal the Bay. Among the 150 international brands selected to showcase at the four-day trade and consumer event, A+R is thrilled to host the stateside fair premiere of new and heritage brands from Japan, Scandinavia and the UK.
So what will A+R be showcasing at Booth 223? From London, there’s Ercol, a furniture house that has been around for ages, but this year unveiled “Originals,” a capsule collection that is the cooler, indie sister of this heritage brand. Out of Japan there are two lines with mastery of traditional manufacturing techniques combined with an updated, sophisticated sensibility, Colors and Karimoku New Standard. Also drawing from the past and intro the present is &Tradition, a Copenhagen house showcasing both newly designed and revived products. Fellow Dane Libratone will be surrounding us in sound with the new Loop, the most powerful home audio system and just unveiled to the world on Monday, making our booth showing its first public debut! Even if we have been singing their praises through our stores for 4-odd years now, A+R stalwarts Muuto and Hay are actually making their US fair debut with West Edge. And last but so not least, Biegert&Funk will be keeping us on time with a trio of their newest finishes for their iconic Qlock.
WestEdge is the brainchild of Megan Reilly and Troy Hanson, who decided to take a gamble on the west coast after 7 years of producing the Architectural Digest‘s Home Design Show in New York. Clearly, that relationship is in tact, as AD is not only a media sponsor but also giving away a 1-year free subscription with the ticket price of $25; you can save $5 when you buy tickets in advance online and still score the subscription with promo code 2013EXH.
Unlike other design shows west of New York, this one will have more of an art fair sensibility, as well as a slew of distractions, from a cafe sponsored by Stella Artois to workshops with established interior designers.
We’ll be posting updates here throughout the week, so check back regularly.
Oh, and how to win a pair of FREE tickets? Find out here. We’re giving out a couple of pairs of tickets to the day fair now through Friday, as well a coveted pair to Thursday night’s opening party (a total value of $170).
