Forget Coachella. The most inspired, imaginative, kaleidoscope-crazy trip into the desert is back—and it’s all about kids and crafts. Oh, and the A+R Toy Lab, back for a third round of the coolest camp in the universe.
If you’ve never experienced Crafting Community, get set to blow your Mod Podge.
The weekend at the Ace Palm Springs starts Friday night with a family BBQ and bingo bash and continues through the next two days with workshops on underwater photography, skateboarding (with a pro skater!) and a cornucopia of crafts taught by noted artists and designers (this year includes Tanya Aguiniga, Cathy Callahan, All Roads, Robert Mahar and many more).
Founders Stacy Bernstein and Karen Kimmel take crafts and camp to another level entirely with the experience they provide. No detail is too small for consideration, from the boxes containing supplies to the disco in the desert on Saturday night. Yet the entire weekend doesn’t feel precious. On the contrary, it’s all designed for kids and parents to get messy and make memories.
This will be our third time there as a family and as the host of the A+R Toy Lab, a respite in all the swirl, for kids to build with magnetic blocks from Tegu, try city living with chalk and wood towns by Kiko+, dress up from the costume trunk, read books and so much more.
