Cannot wait to party tonight with Mayor Eric Garcetti and the kindred spirits behind the Los Angeles Design Festival, who will honoring a force within the design community (to be announced!) with this year’s ICON Award at Frank Lloyd Wright’s stunning Hollyhock House, which just reopened this Spring.
Hollyhock is Lloyd Wright’s first Los Angeles project, and was built between 1919 and 1921 on a sprawling piece of Los Angeles near Los Feliz commissioned by Aline Barnsdale as both residence and cultural arts complex. The city—and all of us who live here—benefited from her vision when she bequeathed it to the public, and this Spring it reopened after a 5-year restoration.
Suffice it to say, we’re very excited to celebrate the Barnsdale and this year’s ICON recipient.
We were also thrilled to find that the UK brothers behind Chisel & Mouse cast a model of Lloyd Wright’s masterpiece (scroll through the images to check it out). Yes, we’ve got the collection, and Hollyhock, at A+R.
